The Fair Comes To Toledo – A Feast Not Only For The Eyes

A couple of nights ago, after the fireworks, Maria and I meandered through the adjacent fairground, enjoying the colourfulness of it all.

Fair rides

This shot of a fair ride has turned out very fuzzy... but I prefer to call it 'arty' ;-)

“Her head just ain’t hot enough for the bow to glow!”

It's probably illegal in Spain to hold any kind of festivity that doesn't involve pork legs

Food

These are pickled aubergines (eggplant), and I love them! The grumpy stall holder was not at all happy with me taking this photo, so I'm doubly pleased it turned out so well :)

Our American ride look better, but your food looks amazing. Here in the States our food will definitely give you a heart attack!

Actually this is a lovely RT tradition (not sure if other Russian companies do that too) – whenever you travel somewhere, whether for work (for my group that means mostly conferences and media festivals) or vacation, you must bring back local yummies. The first time I went back to the US (it was also right before my b-day, for which, per another local tradition, I must throw a feast for the colleagues) I brought back 4 bottles of Cali wines, a platter of assorted American cheeses, dry salami and pepperoni, pistachio nut mix, Ritz crackers, Reese’s mini cups and mini Butterfinger bars – those were a HUUUUGE hit.
