I took this ages ago… I didn’t post it at the time, because I had accidentally cut off the ridiculous angel perched on top of that domed building to the left. However, on second consideration, It’s probably an improvement 😉
God I love Madrid – it’s so beautiful. Beats Barcelona hands down in my book. 🙂 Every time I turned a corner I was gobsmacked afresh at some other beautiful fountain/building/sculpture – just stunning.
Really??? I thought Barcelona was the most overrated city I’ve ever been to – whereas nobody ever really talks about Madrid so I wasn’t really sure what to expect and was just blown away!
just reading your comment down there (which I can’t reply to)….you obviously have not met ME! I love, love, LOVE Madrid!! one of my most favorite cities in the world 😉 so, I am somebody who does talk about Madrid and I’m so glad that you love it too!! there are many more of us out here, he he.
Now just a moment young lady! This oughtn’t to be allowed. I’ve never been to Madrid so I can’t judge whether I would have loved or hated that angel. I need to see the evidence 🙂
Anyone feeling a need for angelic influence at the moment can see my black and white post this week as I wasn’t so crop happy 😉 but composition wise, your take is probably better!
Oo, so much disagreement about the place. I’m just back from my first visit. I was very impressed with the grand architecture, but I found a lot of the popular plazas rather tacky. I did however fall in love with the Malasana area, rather like the Northern Quarter in Manchester, England.
So light, so bright, so sunny!

This reminds me of the Hippodrome building in London–in fact it is even more ornate. The dome is incredible.

Bit OTT… I should look up its history… if only I could be bothered… 😉

Really?!? I can’t get on with Madrid… I guess I could learn to love it, but it does nothing for me, visually.

Interesting 🙂 Not everyone’s tastes are the same, thank God! Madrid certainly has its aficionados.

Malaga was also a real surprise – I had A LOT of fun there 😉 And Valencia was lovely too. Fond memories of churros and hot chocolate 😉
