Seriously, that’s a bus stop? That’s crazy. The whole town is crazy-beautiful. Makes me sad for not having the time to check it out when I was in Portugal.
Like I said to Anna, it was probably constructed for a different purpose, but as there’s a bush stop right next to it, I strongly suspect that it has been zweckentfremdet 😉
Hey! Look an auto-rickshaw aka tuk-tuk….They are indeed ubiqu… wha-he-said ( did I mention I was lazy?) in India. In Calcutta or Kolkata as it is now, the bus drivers have a helper who hangs out and acts as the side view mirror on the passenger door side, yelling out things to watch for on the drivers’s blind side. They refer to these tuk-tuks as “charpoka” or cockroaches.
Great color in these images. Why do American towns never have that? Unless they are in Key West 😉
The “bus shelter” has a vaguely Islamic feel. Very interesting!
Sintra’s such a wonderful place! It’s a shame it was rainy, the view from the Mouros is incredible when it’s bright; you can see all the way to the coast
Sintra has a very particular microclimate. I remenber once I was in the highway from Lisbon to Sintra and at a certain point we were in the car and we could see the barrier between rainy and non rainy area. It was simply amazing. Hope you liked it

I’m not sure it was intended as a bus shelter, but there’s a bus stop just 3m to the left, so that’s what people will be using it for!

That’s not really a bus shelter, is it?!
I spy lanterns 😉

Those are very beckoning images. I was surprised to see the ‘tuk tuk’ there -they are ubiquitous out here in India.

There are a number of fabulous palaces there, which I didn’t have time to visit. So I’ll definitely have to go back 🙂

That bus stop is wicked! Love the hat guy too. 🙂 The Tuk Tuk looks way too swank to be one of its Asian cousins….

Many years ago, I spent a long weekend on Martha’s Vineyard, and it was very colourful indeed 🙂

Sounds nice. I’ve never been there! But it does seem that seaside areas have more color…

Oh, I loved it! But it was too short… need to go back there! Interesting re. climate. You do get that kind of thing in mountainous regions.
