My Friday Treat

OK… I must confess… this is not purely a Friday indulgence. I order this just about every time I set foot in La Pepa, a cafรฉ/restaurant/bar five minutes from my house.

And no, in case you’re wondering, the waiter did not drop it onto the floor, nor did I molest it with my all-too-eager fork before it occurred to me to take a picture. That’s how it arrives on the plate.

This, my friends, is one good apple pie. Cosmetically challenged it may be, but darn good. A generous quantity of cinnamon makes perfect music with the apple slices, which are perfect soft-and-chunky consistency. It’s not too sweet. The crust is rich and buttery.

According to the menu, it comes with vanilla ice cream, but I always order it without. I find it overpowers the subtle notes. But I do ask them to heat it up.

One hot mess!

Looks delicious and comes in arty farty photo form too ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’d have to go with the added ice cream though. I love hot apple pie and cold ice cream and, well, I’m just greedy!

“A generous quantity of cinnamon makes perfect music with the apple slices” – well, aren’t we the poet!
It does look like you thumped your fist down into it. Nonetheless, it looks delicious. I’ve never liked ice cream with my apple pie but I would love a dollop of whipped, unsweetened fresh cream.

Not big on apple pie, but whatever that coffee thing is, it looks good. That’s another thing I am getting excited for – all the chilled coffee drinks in FL.
