I took this picture last night, while out and about in Madrid with Team Tapas.
Am trying to fall in love with a city, which, at first glance, I didn’t really take to. It will soon be my home, so I better make an effort. I think it’s slowly happening…
There will be a food post to follow…
Madrid, Madrid, Madrid!!! Me encanta Madrid!! but admittedly…I might love it because of the time I spent there and the happy memories that are still with me? nah, it’s a GREAT city full of many things to do and wonderful food to eat. I sure hope you end up liking it. 🙂

I’ve visited twice and found it quite lovely. Any place that offers free tapas, provided you’re buying drinks, is my kind of place. 🙂

Well, they have those in Toledo, too!

I’m sure you’ll grow to love it! Just think of how many more cake shops Madrid has in comparison to Toledo!

Yup, that’s another draw, certainly! I’m not a shopaholic, by any means, but getting hold of even basic things like groceries is quite inconvenient where I live now.

I also think there’s a good chance… and if there isn’t, the whole world will have to suffer it out with me, lol.

It will make for some engaging writing then – just think the of great Russian literary tradition, and how much they all suffered, many of them in prison, exile, etc.

One way to look at it. Of course, when Lenin was exiled, he went to Paris, Vienna, Prague…

Good luck with falling in love with Madrid! I’ve never been so don’t have any advice, except to say that I hated New York (well, Manhattan) the first few times I visited, then one day just fell in love for no reason I could think of, and have been ever since!

Hi there! I had the same experience with London… that’s what gives me hope 🙂

Not the warmest or immediately welcoming city in Spain but I bet you will end up liking living there. I am partial to Barcelona but did develop a fondness for Madrid.

Have you found the ‘Hemingway never ate here’ bar, somewhere around the back of the Plaza Mayor I think. My memory is a little hazy, it’s about 10 years since I went to Madrid. You will grow to love it, I’m sure.SD

Must look out for that bar when I finally get there, LOL 🙂
