Some Very Well-Ordered Food

I was at a friend’s birthday do yesterday. The food was delicious. AND healthy.

Can you tell she’s an engineer?!

Food 1

Usually busy building roads, here she’s constructed a superhighway to gluttony. She just can’t help herself…

Food 2

Beetroot and apple salad in ... anchovy tins!

This is divine. I am all about the beetroot salad and the pasta salad. I see no shrimp or mushrooms, thus it seems like the party was specifically catered with me in mind.

Vegetarian heaven! Ravishing. But yes, the engineer thing is much in evidence. I especially like the individual toothpicks stuck into each bit of the frittata (or is that called a tortilla?). And I love the table of cheese idea. Why stop at a measly board?

Indeed it was veggie heaven (except for two salmon-containing offerings), and it made me think of you, lol.

It is a tortilla. Delicious! Can’t have any event involving food without tortilla, it’s totally illegal in this country. The toothpick method for the convenient consumption of bite-sized morsels is the way it’s done here.

The bow tie pasta salad looks incredible. I wonder what else was in it… My plate would have also included some salmon and cheese and… !Todo se ve delicioso!
    And there’s nothin’ with eyes!!

    Superhighway to gluttony, LOL!!!!

It looks wonderful. Here in Tehuacán, there’s an excess of meat everywhere. I want VEGETABLES!!!!

Hi there Kim! I guess that’s the trouble with long road trips and having to eat out every day… you’ll have to counteract it with a raw-food diet once you get back to Boston 😉

You jest, I’m sure. But my normal, at-home diet is mostly salad, beans, lentils, rice, and breakfast cereal. So I’m already heavily on a raw diet. And I’m fantasizing about making dal. Saludos!

No, I’m totally serious… well, maybe not about going 100% raw, but if I don’t get enough fresh stuff, my innards stop working properly (sorry if that’s a tad too graphic, lol), which is bothersome when travelling. I love dal!

Beautifully engineered – it all looks sooo appealing! Interesting apple and beetroot salad, do you know what the dressing was? I’m thinking something citrusy would work well. I do like the look of that. And what is in the bowls?

But can I see pineapple in the pasta? Not so sure about that. A bit like pineapple on a pizza. No. Can. Do.

I’m with you on the pineapple issue – I love fresh pineapple but NOT on my pizza. I could have done without it in the salad, but it was still good.

The dressing on the beetroot salad – no idea. There was some olive oil, but I don’t know what else, and certainly nothing strongly flavoured. Very tasty, though.

I don’t mind pineapple (once in a while) on pizza. I may try it in a pasta salad this summer. Great idea!

Isn’t that the reason we read these blogs? 🙂

I like white beans the best, but the red would be better for color… But I could add it with herbs or veggies… A sprinkle of chili, paprika, some carrots… Inspirational for sure!

Damn, that would be a feast to die for:-). I might have to steal the desert in anchovy tins idea. Your friend sounds like an awesome woman:-)

You know, so far NOBODY has mentioned cake… I was waiting for someone to ask and for me having to confess that I had to leave before the cake came out… what a tragedy. I so want some now!
