What better way to start the week?

This morning, my friend Cristina introduced me to one of her dad’s favourite hangouts, La Iguana Café, where we each had an enormous pork sandwich before I started to investigate the cake menu. I’m all for a balanced diet…

I absolutely loved this succulent carrot cake! It clearly did not come out of some factory, all standardised, sterilised, packed up and frozen, but was made by a real person in their kitchen.

On our way there, we spotted this rather appealing piece of graffiti:

The writing refers to every-day concerns, as well as social (in)justice issues, all of which, I’m sure, swirl around the average person’s head. She still manages to keep on smiling, like most of us do, at least on a good day 🙂

    Carrot cake is one of my all time favourite desserts. In fact, as a reward for the Grand Canyon business, we bought one from Whole Foods on Saturday. I had a slice Sat night and another last night. 🙂

        Oh it has tested my willpower, to be sure. Only saving grace is that hubby’s last two dinners were both delicious and filling. Despite the lack of room though, I pounded back those slices of cake like a champ. 🙂

      You can hardly ever go wrong with carrot cake, I find, unless they absolutely drown it in sticky icing.

      For Toledanean graffiti, it’s rather sophisticated, lol.

    It may be sacrilegious of me, but I think the whole purpose of carrot cake is to support copious amounts of cream cheese icing. In fact, I think cream cheese icing is perfect on just about anything 🙂

    Carrot cake and lemon merengue? How on earth did you choose? I would have had to eat one there and sneak one home in my purse.

    Recently a pie shop opened in our local public library. Makes me want to go to the library all the time!

      I’ve read somewhere that it’s originally Australian…but Wiki says “it’s origins are disputed”. I don’t care… as long as it meets its end in my digestive tract 😉

    That dragon was probably one of those “vegetarians” who only eats chicken, and a bit of salmon now and then… The cake does look divine. I have plans to make rhubarb coffee cake today. If it turns out decently, I will post a pic!
