The Tolmo Museum in Toledo, just three minutes walking distance from my house, opened its doors to the public in October 2013. I love the eclectic “chronological mix”, spanning two millennia: The building, a beautiful medieval church, houses a modern art exhibition and there’s remnants of Roman baths in the basement, which can also be viewed.
I need to go there!

It’s very small – but pretty. And only €1.50 to get in. AND they let you take photos 🙂

Bargain!

Love the ‘waaay back when’ and ‘nearly now’ co-mingling. I also love it when you can take pics too! Thanks for sharing as doubtful will get to pop over any time soon….

Not with that ankle 😦 Toledo requires a pair of healthy feet. Soon you’ll be back in the game.

I now have a nifty rubber band and exercises to help strengthen so eventually I wake up able to walk instead of wake up having to limber up the ankle before attempting to do anything…
Wish it was faster though! I wanted to walk all over Tokyo in 10+ days but looks like will still be doing my funny walking but not confident striding. 😦

Ah yes, I know those rubber bands. Aw, shame about missing out on the full Tokyo walking experience. You’ll just have to compensate by eating more!

That’s an incredible door frame.
Btw how’s the move to Madrid progressing?

Don’t ask… am having a pretty good time at the moment and so I just can’t find the impetus… let’s see how I feel after the summer. Unless my landlady manages to sell the place before then.

Well that would provide impetus! I thought life looked good from some of your recent posts – invites to interesting places and lots of cake!

Yes, it’s quite entertaining at the moment… and I’m not even posting everything I’m doing 😉

Sounds like a fascinating place. Love the juxtaposition of the modern art in an ancient church.

It had a really cool wall and ceiling, but my pictures didn’t turn out 😦

Did you get down to see the baths?

Yes, they weren’t very exciting. There’s more of them beneath a building just across on the other side of the street, and that part is much better preserved/restored.

‘Like’ and am interested but typo alert 😉
“opened its door so the public…” – you asked last time so I thought I’d do you the favour this time. I’ve only had 4 glasses of wine, 2 Jevers and a mild panic attack. You’re welcome.

Ta! I just read over that, as usual 😉
A panic attack? Did you fall off that swing…?

Nah, I’ve got that down. Paranoid about the bins system – and flushing the toilet. Is that allowed after a certain hour!?

You’ll just have to pee in a bucket…

Argh! Second panic attack!
PS. The 1.99 wine is really nice! 🙂

Go pee. In the toilet. If you’re that worried, don’t flush and leave it till the morning. As a friend of mine is fond of saying “if it’s yellow, let it mellow” 😉
Good. Have another bottle.

Then I’d have to pee more 😉 I will definitely stock up on this stuff though!

Most importantly, was there a tea shop for cake???

Well, if you squint a bit, you can see that there’s two cafes, on either side outside the door 🙂

I love small museums. Less danger of numbness setting in…

No danger at all with that one, it’s tinchy (I learned this word from Linda).

What does it mean? I can’t find a definition!

According to Linda (who went for a mad hunt after I queried it), it’s a validated component of Barbadian English…
Personally, I think it’s a typo of “titchy”.

Me imagino que no fotos dentro del museo, pero cómo eran los baños romanos?
Btw, maybe you would like to check out a fun “challenge” I began today, Texture Tuesday, which is what… 90% of your photos? 🙂 hope you play!
