Dachau is a beautiful Bavarian town with cobbled streets and pretty houses. It’s only a 15 minute drive from my village along scenic country roads, and last Saturday afternoon, bro took me and our mum there for a little outing. I hadn’t been to Dachau in absolutely ages!
Now, the real reason for the Dachau trip was to get stuck into some good cake… more on that in the next post 🙂
15 minutes from Dachau? Hmmmm…

It’s OK, has its nice parts… and glorious ice cream 🙂 I’ve got a post on it coming up. Actually, there already is one:

Stunning again! I’m a sucker for this series 🙂 Even without cake! And the conscientious dog sign made me laugh! They’re all angry in Latvia – uzmanibu, nikns suns – caution, angry dog 😉

Ah, now that’s very funny. One could do a pop study on national preferences in ‘beware of the dog’ signs 😉

Good question…’ half-starved, chained-up dog’? I’ve never taken any notice!

You’ll have to look now! If the dogs take siestas too, it’s probably not too scary in the afternoon 😉

It’s just that where I live people don’t really have gardens, and hence, no gates to affix those signs to… but I shall pay closer attention from now on

In the Northern Ireland countryside the signs say “Caution: dogs running free”. At least that’s what the sign on a tree on my brother’s property says, and I like it. Happy, healthy, free-running dogs. But maybe we need to get a new sign “beware of the donkeys”.
LikeLike
That would terrify me. The dogs, not the donkeys. Dogs can be pretty territorial, and I’ve been bitten more than once. Don’t get me wrong, I like dogs, but I need them either to be very good natured or adequately controlled.

These particular dogs are very good natured – and I must blog photos of them one day.
The main purpose of the sign is actually to warn cars driving into the farmyard to slow down – we don’t want them crashing into the dogs.

Of course not! Can’t wait to meet them 🙂

Oh, heavens, you’d NEVER get me up that ride! I love the thought of a ‘conscientious’ dog. Does this mean he thinks seriously about biting you before he does? And I have apostrophobia too. Drives me bonker’s [sic]
…now where did you say the cake was?
LikeLike
Don’t get me started on apostrophes… you see English apostrophes creeping into German, where they are plainly wrong, just because they are deemed ‘fashionable’. I can’t stand it…!
Cake AND flowers coming up in the next post 🙂

judging from some of the photos, you were having some cake while enjoying one or two of fair’s rides 😉 scream while trying to eat some is a totally new concept to me 😀 Just kidding. Dachau looks like a nice place to visit

We didn’t actually visit the fair, just surveyed the ongoings from above, from the palace gardens, where there was CAKE! More on that tomorrow…

I’m weird. I love the PAINT. I live where paint fades, gets moldy and flakes off annually. Everything looks so pretty, clean and fresh! Ahhhhhhh.

In Germany even the dogs are conscientious! But do they really give out free beer?

Yes, on rare occasions, free beer is to be had.

I’ve just remembered that 25 years ago, when I first entered the world of work, I had some acquaintances who worked for a brewery. Every employee got 72 litres of free beer a month 😉

It does look like a lovely city. Is it just me, or do Germans love flowers and their gardens – however small?

They are gardening-mad. And if they haven’t got a garden, they’ll transform their balcony into a jungle.

Honestly, I look at your photos and I’m kind of envious. You have a terrific eye for catching some little scene, some detail, or something interesting. And I love the idea of a “pflichtebewußter hund.” Is he so conscientious that he doesn’t bite? Or does it go the other way? LOL
