I’m back in Toledo now (and have been for a full four hours), after the most fabulous ten days spent in my old home in North London. The weather was perfect – autumnal, warm and sunny – and even though I wasn’t able to re-visit all of my favourite haunts, I managed to include quite a few of them in my nostalgic tour. Like my beloved Hampstead Heath. Sigh. Let me share just a handful of photos…
Some cracking shots! So lucky to have all this round the corner : )

Yes, you are! Loved the shot of your kissing couple. Incidentally, that gay couple on the bench on my pic also snogged, but I just wasn’t quick enough 😉

Makes me wonder if there are some walls around the bathing ponds when men need to stay 200m away… judging by the pics, looks like the Autumn had an earlier arrival in the southern parts of the city than the seemingly green North parts!

The men’s bathing pond is not far away, they can hang out there 😉

Did you bathe in the ponds? And where is the cake???
I think I am going to London twice in the next two months! And also Prague! Fingers crossed…

I’ve never been for a swim in the ponds 😦
Food pics coming up.
You must make the most of the Thai restaurants, but NOT the ones in the centre where all the tourists are, you hear!?

I have NO idea where that is anyway :). Our studios are in the Millbank tower – near MI6? So I would probably spend most of my daylight hours around there.

I’m sure you’ve already mapped out and planned your route! Let me know when you’re going…

The good thing is that I’ve been there before. And maybe I’ll be taken to some nice places by our business partners 🙂

SHOCKED at the idea of “women’s bathing ponds! Ha! So do the ladies skinny dip? Grab soap and have a bath? If the sign weren’t new looking, I’d think it was a Victorian Era relic, where sodden clothes hugging a female figure might be too scandalous for mixed company. I am curious, curious, curious!

Yes, they are an historic institution, those ponds 🙂 You can google this, btw.

Haven’t seen to many ‘Women Only’ signs. And the views are wonderful. Welcome home. I hope the trip back wasn’t too tiring. I love to travel but hate the process of getting to places.

It was tiring and stimulating all at the same time. I think I would have needed at least a month to see everybody and do everything I wanted…
It was lovely to meet you 🙂

I love all the people you included in the photos – the street photography feel adds much – like the man pointing in that first photo – and the others add to the mood and bring in a bit of a story . anyhow, smiling at the women only sign – nice capture there too.

… did you notice that man lying on the grass in the first pic? He grossed me out a bit, with his skinny, pallid whiteness topped by brillo pad chest hair. Urgh!

Didn’t know about the bathing ponds! And didn’t get to explore HH when I was there. I had no idea that parts of it are so elevated. I had pictured it as being like Central Park but bigger.

It’s a bit… wild in parts, very “wooded”.

If I could choose any place to live in London, it would be in one of the houses adjacent to the Heath. We are only talking a few million pounds.

The “correct” spelling is “jawohl”, and I’ve seen “jawoll” as a colloquial variant.

Aw, I was so lucky in London! Incidentally, it rained in Toledo when I arrived – shock horror!
Let’s hope it turns into an Indian Summer for the both of us. That’s what’s currently happening in Germany, my Mum tells me.
