Grumpy Mornings

I’ve had no water (again!) since last night, so I was just a tad grouchy this morning. Over brekkie, I read this post about someone having a really shitty day, which helped to put things into perspective somewhat.

Shortly after, and still in a huff, I trudged out to buy some groceries, and it occurred to me that this situation can’t be much fun for the owner of the vintage clothes shop tucked away in that corner:

Clothes Shop

On the way back, loaded up with broccoli, carrots and oyster mushrooms, I treated myself to a coffee and a sliver of cake for €1.20.  And when I got home, the water was back on, HURRRAAAAH! Life’s OK again now 😉

Yes, cake is always the answer for you of course.
Oh no, poor clothes shop owner, must be ruining her trade! (Has she got nice stuff in there? I love poking around little shops like that… ) 🙂

I noticed a bit of a leak last week outside our house and was wondering if i ought to call someone when the waterboard came, dug out the pipe, sorted it and then recobbled the road! Brilliant! Things CAN happen quickly here….

Having no water = the worst. Glad you got it back on! And that picture is too funny… it just gave me a flashback to living in Prague and walking out the door one morning to almost fall in a hole. Thanks for the notice on the sidewalk replacement, City of Praha!

When we were travelling I got used to having no water, no toilet, no shower, no electricity and no internet, This was why McDonald’s became heaven – it had all of them, and for about 50c (the price of a cup of coffee!) Glad it’s all better now.

You should send a sliver of magic cake to Pecora – maybe Telecom Italia will show up 😉
Glad your water’s back – at least you still had wifi though. Losing both at the same time would be cataclysmic 😉

Poor dude. I’d be at their offices with a machete by now 😉 They must not have anyone monitoring online activity that contains their name – most big companies do. You’d think a Telecomms company would! He’s written a few posts on this and nothing!

The annoying thing is that they don’t give you any advance warning, even if it’s planned repair works. A few hours without water are of very little inconvenience, if you’re prepared.

I agree about the notice. I remember one incident in my home town when they were planning to shut down the power grid in the entire town for 7 hours starting at 8 am.
Needless to say, everyone prepared their activities around an 8 am shutdown. The bastards turned off the grid at 7:45. What bright-light decided that would be a good idea?!!!!!

Sometimes even just a bit of food or a cup of coffee can make the difference between feeling like crap and feeling ok…on such things hang happiness…. How do the Spaniards react to the water (etc) shutdowns?

I’d be rather grumpy too… especially if deprived of morning coffee.

We keep a small tank of drinking water plus lots of bottles filled so I’m never deprived of my morning cappuccino… no matter what happens!

Even have the stove top option to use on the gas stove if electricity goes. Yeah… an addict ALWAYS has a way to get her fix! 😉

I would have been more sympathetic if it hadn’t been for the “(again)” Sheesh!

You know the old Chinese saying, “Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me’ Once you know the water might go off, store some!

Happy birthday to pool boy – Nancy’s kindness was a really great b’day present that will warm him for the rest of his life. A bit of hardship makes the rest of life extra sweet.

Yikes! That’s a really long time…If I didn’t have hot water now, I’d freeze! The heat’s not yet been turned on, so I have hot showers to warm myself up!

I’m curious about what you cooked with those ingredients 🙂

OMG, I would be terribly grumpy in that situation. Anything that affects the, ahem, sanitary facilities is anathema to me. That is why I do NOT go camping. My cures for grumpiness are orange juice, chardonnay, potato chips and Ciarán Hinds. Not necessarily in that order 🙂

Yes, there is always cake! And, in my case, Digestive Biscuits. Just landed in London and took care of the priorities: a curry and digestives, to make sure my day ends great, even if the beginning was not great.
