I´m not really a Christmas person. But then, I am a glutton, and the food sways me. Also the pretty colours. On Sunday, I was strolling through Toledo´s Christmas market. I didn´t even know we had one, until my friend Carmen, who I was having lunch with that day, educated me.
Yesterday, I got on a plane…
The first thing I had after I got off the plane was a steaming hot mug of Glühwein from a stall at the Christmas market right outside the airport terminal. I really needed that…!
That second shot is fabulous!

I’ve reached the stage in life where my house is “home” for Christmas. I’m expecting the hungry and thirty hordes to descend on us tomorrow. It will be pure bedlam here for the next few days 🙂
You might not be the Christmas-y type, but where there is lots of food and drink and laughter, what more could you ask for? 🙂 Hope you have a great holiday!

I am a hungry horde 🙂

Thirty hordes, how many is that in total? Perhaps a typo for thirsty??😀

Damn – I really should watch the typos when writing comments early in the morning when I haven’t finished my coffee yet!
Thirty hordes does sound rather odd, doesn’t it? 🙂

Well, I thought good on you for entertaining not one, but thirty of the hordes!! 😀

Crikey! There certainly will be bedlam with thirty hordes arriving! Good luck Jo and have a great time with the family 🙂

Damn typo … it does sound really bad doesn’t it? Except it should say THIRSTY hordes. Ten thirsty adults will feel like thirty 😉

I keep reading about Munich Christmas markets and getting jealous, they are epic! I wouldnt say no to some mulled wine myself right now…

Also, how could you not know when something is happening in Toledo? It’s just a big village 😉

I know! Trouble is, the market is held OUTSIDE the city walls, and these things sometimes escape my notice.

Pretty cool they had a Stall with Glühwein right outside of the terminal, what a warm welcome! 🙂

From what I gather from the blog world, there must just be stalls with Christmas paraphernalia and mulled wine strategically placed every few hundred feet (er… 100 meters) all across Europe just to be sure no one goes without. That’s the kind of programming I can get behind!
Have a lovely holiday and I hope you imbibe/eat as much as humanly possible.

Absolutely. There was one outside the supermarket where we did our mega-shop this afternoon.

Hope you enjoyed your Glühwein (even if it is too warm for it – what’s going on German weather?!). Have a great time with your family… and the food, of course.

I’m not a Christmas person either – still it makes me very happy to wish other people Happy Christmas … and mean it. I’ve followed your blog long enough to know that going to Germany is going back towards where your mama lives. To have an active, ambulatory mother who loves a good meal …. what could be better than that?! Heartfelt holiday cheer for you and your mum.

She´s only 63 and ambles along quite well 😉 She’s just dashed out the door to get some last crucial ingredient for our Christmas meal. All I know is that it involves a litre of cream… none of us will be ambulatory after that one!
