Nymphenburg Palace was the summer residence of Bavaria’s rulers, the Wittelsbacher family. The gardens, which are largely woodlands, are enormous and contain, in fact, five palaces, one big one and four teensy ones. Well worth a visit if you happen to be in Munich with an afternoon to spare and a hankering for a dose of nature.
I had a delicious plum crumble, but wolfed it down too fast to take a photo…

The park is fantastic – you can walk for hours, and bicycles are banned 🙂 Am not against cycling, but it’s tedious having to watch out for bikes all the time!

Yes, a gondola 🙂 You can hire it for going along the canals. Mum and I didn’t really fancy that, though, haha.

What is the thing on top of the feet? Weird. I can’t look at a big house without thinking of what it takes to clean it. Miseries. That hausfrau was one enterprising woman!

What stunning photos of an amazing palace! For some strange reason, I don’t tend to associate opulence like that with Germany, and certainly not Bavaria – it looks like Versailles-level luxury. But that’s just another reminder I need to travel more in Germany!

I absolutely love Schloss Nymphenburg. When I was a child I used to live near there
and we used to walk along the Schlosspark. It brings back so many happy memories.
