You know you’re in Spain when you see a shop window like this one:
This shop opened up a few weeks ago in Toledo, just down the road from me.

I must say I was stunned when I first saw World of Jamon, or whatever it is, in Madrid when I was over!

Do you mean Museo De Jamón? Yup, it’s the land of ham 😉

Yup, that is THE association I have with Spain, especially downtown Madrid.

Aw, it’s good to post something predictable every once in a while 😉

Oh stop. Not predicable – nostalgic. Come on, I did spend 5 months in that country!

Hamland indeed! All that salty, leggy goodness. I think it rivals Italy in the ham stakes (pardon the pun, and…ssh! Don’t tell them I said that).

Ssssssshhhhhhhhhhhh! They’d be very offended!
Once, I pulled the fat off a slice of ham (to discard it) – that did NOT go down well.

I can’t go back there now 😦
The same happened to a friend of mine, who ordered a whiskey ON ICE in Edinburgh.

Oh, Jamón Jamón. They used to really freak me out when I lived in Spain, especially when they sometimes have a little drip tray underneath them to catch the… ham juice? Haha, it’s a lovely photo though, couldn’t be anywhere other than Spain!

Yes, those little receptacles to catch the grease…!

What an interesting looking place. Now I wonder is that shop refrigerated or has it got flyscreens every where????

No refrigeration needed…. the hams are cured within an inch of their lives 😉

Oh that is ok then…. No health and safety inspections needed… 🙂

In Spain, you can marvel at the dozens or (even hundreds!) of hams that are suspended from the ceilings of bars, butchers and little eateries. They just dangle there, till it’s their turn 😉

I bet they taste good too

Spain And ham, huh? I didn’t know. Here in Virginia we are also known for ham, although you won’t see any in Windows like these!

There’s tons of windows like these here. I might do a ham window/shop series….
