I think you can… or maybe it’s just specific varieties that taste good…? Well, I don’t think anyone goes round Toledo collecting them to eat, or at least I’m not aware of it.
Me too…that song is infectious….Now when you pick a pawpaw, Or a prickly pear
And you prick a raw paw, Next time beware
Don’t pick the prickly pear by the paw
When you pick a pear
Try to use the claw.
I made “agua de tuna” last night, and I still have spines in my fingers today! Still haven’t learnt how to handle these prickly beings spine free! Love them!
I thought it was going to be stir fried and served with soy sauce!

They eat prickly pear in Sicily, they call them fichi d’india. Mrs Sensible loves them but I am not to fussed over them.

Am not that passionate about them… but maybe they make good jam…?
Am getting into pomegranates.

No idea about the jam, they just cut the spines of and eat them raw. Anyway back to bacon butties….

I love looking at these. Eating, though, I wouldn’t recommend. I’ve tried it and it’s a lot of work to prepare for a mediocre taste.
