Even if you happen to turn up on a dank day, Salamanca’s Plaza Mayor still emanates the kind of majestic splendour you’d expect from the heart of an historic Spanish town 🙂

Are you sure it’s not Madrid? 😉

Quite sure 😉 But I totally get why you’d think that!

I agree with others, it does look a lot like Madrid. I love those huge squares and you have captured this one beautifully. I especially love the last photo with the shuttered doors!

Looks lovely, especially at night, all lit up. I’ve never been to Madrid so there was no confusion for me 🙂

After glorious Rome, you probably wouldn’t be all that impressed… though we have plenty of dog shit.

Excellent – I don’t think I could fully appreciate a town now unless it has lots of dog shit to admire 😉

The night time shots are my favorites–great, deep blue color in the sky, contrasted with the warm gold of the building!

The colonnade all around reminds me a bit of Piazza San Marco in Venice. Beautiful!

Very nice. I had coffee there with my dad on a Sunday morning. I was really looking forward to seeing it as I had heard it was the best plaza in Spain. But we only had the day in the city and never got to see the plaza at night. It looks great at night in your photos.

Can I be upmarket and have wine? And maybe an Amontillado afterwards. I haven’t had one of those for ages 🙂
